MAObjects – Creating Digital Collections using Omeka

With MAObjects, the Mannheim University Library offers researchers a platform for creating and presenting digital object collections and virtual exhibitions.

What is MAObjects?

Digital objects (images, texts, video and audio files) can be uploaded, imported or embedded via the content management system. The description of the objects using standardised metadata ensures that the collections are searchable.

Corporate identity

A theme in the CI of the University of Mannheim is available for the appealing presentation of the objects. Finally, the data can be offered via API for further use in the sense of open and reproducible science.

Our service

The FDZ will take over the hosting for you and will be happy to support you as a researcher at the university in setting up your digital collection.

Software “OMEKA”

The free, open-source content management system OMEKA is used for the technical realisation of the digital collections. Compared to traditional institutional repository software, OMEKA concentrates on displaying the individual objects and uses standardised metadata, for example unqualified Dublin Core.
