Information on E-Books, E-Journals and Databases

The University Library provides access to a comprehensive and licensed collection of subject-specific e-books, e-journals and databases (e-media).

All e-media can be found in the Primo catalog. You can also access our databases via the database and information system (DBIS). E-journals are also listed in the Electronic Journals Library (EZB). The websites for subject-specific research refer to particularly relevant e-media.

Access

As student or staff member of the University of Mannheim you can use our services:

  • on campus via computers or the eduroam wireless.
  • outside the university network by using the VPN client.
Please make sure to select the “WebVPN” group when logging in to the VPN Client. If you select “WebVPN Split”, you do not have access to licensed electronic resources.
  • outside the university network by using Shibboleth – this option is not available for all electronic resources.

Some electronic resources can only be accessed on the campus.

  • Remote access to beck-online

As an academic staff member of the University of Mannheim, you can apply for a personal account with
remote access to beck-online. Please fill out the application form (PDF, 117 KB, in German).

Students of the University of Mannheim can access beck-online from off-campus.

  • Setting up remote access

To set up remote access, you must be on campus. Register free of charge at beck-online with your university e-mail address and activate two-factor authentication in your beck-online account. You need an authentication app of your choice for your PC/Mac or smartphone.

Instructions can be found on the website of beck-online.

  • Using remote access

If you log in to beck-online off campus, you will be asked to enter a security code generated by your authentication app after entering your user name and password.

If you have access problems, please contact e-medien.ub@uni-mannheim.de.
